Leo Chan

Co-founder, CIO

Mr. Leo Chan is the co-founder and CIO of Admiralty Harbour Financial Group. He is the Portfolio Manager of the Admiralty Harbour Global Credit Opportunities Fund.
Prior to co-founding Admiralty Harbour Financial Group, Mr. Chan was a senior portfolio manager at Spinnaker Capital Group, one of the largest global emerging markets focused hedge funds. During his nine years at Spinnaker, he managed the fund’s investment portfolio in Asia and was the head of the Asian credit strategy. He focused on Asian and EM high-yield credits, structured credits, distressed and special situations investments across capital structure. He served on the creditor committees in restructuring situations and sat on the board of several of the funds’ investee companies in Asia.
Prior to working at Spinnaker, Mr. Chan was the assistant general manager in the corporate investments department of Sinochem Group in Beijing. He led a team of investment professionals to evaluate and execute overseas M&A transactions. He represented the group in multi-billion dollar acquisitions, and led the efforts in negotiation, deal structuring, due diligence and financing arrangements.
Mr. Chan also worked in the global capital markets division at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the analysis and execution of principal credit investments across Asia. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Chan worked in the global credit trading division at Deutsche Bank in Singapore. He was a founding member of the bank’s principal finance business in Asia, focusing on pre-IPO financing, special situation financing and growth capital investment opportunities in China and Southeast Asia.
Mr. Chan holds an MBA from Cornell University, a Master of Applied Science from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo. He is a CFA Charter holder.
