Patrick Liu

Co-founder, CEO

Mr. Patrick Liu is the co-founder and CEO of Admiralty Harbour Financial Group.
Mr. Liu was Managing Director, Co-head of Asia Debt Capital Markets at UBS Investment Bank where he made his name as Asia’s top debt banker. Prior to UBS, he worked in the DCM teams at Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse, as well as in Singapore and Beijing with corporate finance, credit lending and non-performing loans experience. With overall debt product responsibilities for the bank in Asia, Mr. Liu built UBS as the top High Yield debt house in Asia and a major debt capital market player for China in both onshore and offshore bond markets.
As one of the most experienced China debt bankers, Mr. Liu has managed more than 300 DCM transactions. He was behind almost all milestone transactions in the China international debt capital markets: the first China incorporated SOE USD bond (Sinochem); the first China EUR bond (CNOOC); the first Chinese bank 144A preference shares (ICBC); the first asset management company international bond (China Cinda); the first Chinese CHF bond (CCB Asia); the first Asia CCC-rated junk bond (Hopson); the first A-share issuer High Yield bond (Oceanwide), among others.
Mr. Liu has led-executed the majority of Chinese property sector debut high yield bond offerings and helped many private sector issuers to gain access to the international capital markets. UBS was consistently ranked at the top among Chinese high yield bond underwriters for years. He was also involved in private placement and structured financing deals.
In the liability management space, his achievements include the first Chinese issuer cash tender (Nine Dragons Paper); the first international bond restructuring for Chinese listed company (Winsway); the first white knight-backed bond restructuring for Chinese issuer (Singyes Solar); the first distressed bond exchange offer with consent solicitation (Yango); and the first UK court debt scheme of arrangement for a Chinese company (China Fortune Land) etc.
Mr. Liu used to work at Corporate Finance Team of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Singapore and at two state financial institutions in Beijing, China, providing him with rich experience in Chinese enterprises financings, M&A, credit loans and bad assets disposition.
Mr. Liu graduated from National University of Singapore with an MBA degree and Xi’an Jiaotong University with BA degree.
A native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English, Mr. Liu is a frequent financial media speaker in Asia. He also provides training on Asia DCM topics to senior executives at corporates, banks and regulators in China.
